Your baby at 6 weeks old
The changes that happen in the first 6 weeks of your baby's life are rapid and amazing.
Babies may be almost unrecognisable now, compared with those very first pictures; they will certainly have grown a lot and have many more facial expressions - including a smile. You will now feel they are really responding to you - always a terrific feeling ans a milestone for many parents.
Babies respond to the sound of familiar voices and will fix their gaze on your face, especially when you talk to them.
Nappy changing and bathing are more enjoyable now as babies feel more secure in their surroundings.
Most babies will have more wakeful times during the day now but tend to be more content when they are awake.
You may find your baby wants more milk now since babies classically have a growth spurt at about this time.
Help I'm having a Baby has a whole section on baby care so you have access to all the information you need to know about the first 6 weeks at home with your newborn baby - what to expect - how you can cope - and reasons to call a doctor.
